On March 28, 2026, the Saint Joseph University (USJ) community gathered in Houston at the Royal Sonesta Galleria Hotel for an inspiring evening of unity, generosity, and renewed commitment to the University’s mission. The USJ Gala Houston 2026 organized by the Alumni Houston chapter board brought together alumni, benefactors, and friends in a celebration that reflected both pride in USJ’s legacy and confidence in its future. The event was hosted by MCs Dr. Pascale Attallah and Mr. Michael Vasu, and was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Pr. Salim Daccache, Mrs. Cynthia Andrea Ghobril, and members of the USJ Foundation Board in the United States.

A Message from the Chapter President

Mr. Pierre Moubarak, President of the USJ Alumni Houston Chapter, addressed the guests reflecting on the chapter’s journey and its achievements. He underscored the critical importance of supporting education and reaffirmed the chapter’s commitment to USJ’s mission. Mr. Moubarak encouraged attendees to contribute generously and stand united, sending a powerful message of solidarity and hope to USJ students as Lebanon continues to face difficult times.

A Message from the Rector

The gala also featured a special online address by Rev. Fr. Francois Boedec, SJ, Rector of USJ, who shared a message of gratitude and encouragement. In his remarks, Fr. Boedec reaffirmed the University’s mission and emphasized the vital role of the diaspora in supporting USJ, especially during challenging times.

Honoring Leadership and Dedication

A highlight of the evening was the tribute paid to Dr. Pierre Nassif Khoury, former Houston Chapter President, in recognition of his outstanding leadership, unwavering dedication, and lasting contributions to the growth and mission of USJ. His vision and commitment have left a meaningful and enduring impact on the University and its global community. Following a warm and heartfelt introduction by his nephew, Nicholas, Dr. Khoury was presented with the Leadership Award. He then delivered a powerful and emotional speech, reflecting on his lifelong academic and professional journey, and paying tribute to the colleagues, family, and friends whose support and influence have shaped his path.

Supporting the Next Generation

At the heart of the evening was a shared commitment to student scholarships. Thanks to the generosity of attendees, important funds were raised to support students facing financial hardship, ensuring that deserving young men and women can continue their education and contribute to society.

A Strong and Engaged Community

The event welcomed a vibrant audience, highlighting the strength of the USJ Alumni network in Houston and across the United States. It was an opportunity to reconnect, strengthen ties, and expand the circle of supporters dedicated to advancing USJ’s mission. The evening concluded with a celebration note, with lively musical entertainment by singer Al Fares Ziad Imaz and DJ Sam.

With Gratitude

USJ extends its sincere thanks to all attendees, sponsors, organizers and volunteers whose efforts made this evening a success. Your continued support plays a crucial role in sustaining the University’s excellence and impact.

Together, we build on 150 years of excellence—supporting education, empowering students, and strengthening the USJ mission worldwide.
