On the evening of Monday, May 19, the Boston USJ Alumni Chapter hosted a celebratory reception at Nubar restaurant in the Sheraton Commander Hotel in Cambridge, MA, to honor USJ Rector Pr. Salim Daccache, s.j., on the occasion of his visit to Boston, where he received an Honorary Doctorate from Boston College.
The private gathering, which brought together a group of USJ Alumni and friends, was organized by Nicole Babikian Hajjar, President of the Boston USJ Alumni Chapter, in collaboration with Randa Hakim, Director of the USJ North America Office.
In her welcome remarks, Babikian congratulated Pr. Daccache on receiving this prestigious distinction from Boston College and announced that a gala celebrating USJ’s 150th anniversary will be held in Boston on November 15 in the presence of Pr. Daccache, with further details forthcoming.
The Rector, in turn, expressed his gratitude to Babikian, Hakim, and John Abou Ezzi, the President of the USJ Foundation - USA, also thanking all attendees for their presence and support. He shared updates from USJ and delivered a strong message of hope and resilience, highlighting that the University had managed to retain all its staff and students despite the severe challenges caused by Lebanon’s economic and financial crises.
